Me And Him Call It Us- Loss
I was listening to a few new band recommendations that came my way, and thought of this album. Most of the new stuff I am hearing “metal” wise has an emphasis on really clean (production wise), pig grunt vocal styles. The reason older albums, like “Horrified” by Repulsion, or “Reek Of Putrefaction” by Carcass, sounded so good because the vocals were not clean, or for that matter, pig grunt. I understand that I am talking more about grindcore that death metal, but this seems to be a trend across the board.
Me And Him Call It Us has such a raw sound vocally. While it may still be hard to decipher the lyrical content at times, it doesn’t sound like they traded their souls to the devil to get a voice from the depths of hell, or a barnyard. They retain a somewhat “scremo” vocal style, but instrumentally maintain a grindcore style musicianship. I dare say they are one of the few bands that I consider to be avant-garde grindcore. The artistry is self-evident. The real tragedy is that they are no longer together. Long story short, this album is a must have. I strongly recomend giving it a listen.
